Under Canvas Glamping in Moab

We used our recent trip to Moab to try Under Canvas. For those that aren’t familiar, Under Canvas is a nation-wide “glamping” experience. They have 11 locations, all near National Parks. We are not camping people, but I thought this would be a fun way to spend our one night in Moab. Under Canvas offers multiple tent styles to accommodate various group sizes with varying amenities. We booked a Deluxe Tent, which had a king-sized bed, a small indoor sitting area, a wood burning stove, a toilet, a sink, and a shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable with soft bedding! I was worried about being too hot overnight, but Under Canvas provides battery operated fans, lanterns, and charging packs, so we were kept cool and even able to charge our devices. I’m a light sleeper, so I was also worried about outside noises, and while it was louder than I’m used to, especially since it stormed during the night and was windy for a few hours, which made the canvas flap loudly, once we turned our white noise app on, I slept well. The storm also helped cool the temperature. The tent was spacious, with more than enough room for our luggage, and the barn-style bathroom door helped create two distinct spaces. The tent was built on a platform, which provided a small porch area out front with deck chairs. There is even a water heater for the shower! The other tent styles are Star Gazer (deluxe tent plus a window in the ceiling above the bed), Suite (deluxe tent plus a queen size sofa sleeper), Safari (no bathroom–the bath house is a short walk from the tent), and family tents (any of the above sizes plus a detached small tent). Under Canvas has a community atmosphere, and something I was really looking forward to was making s’mores at the campfire! Each night, Under Canvas offers s’mores kits at the reception tent and several fire pits in the community area. This tent also has indoor seating areas, games, snack items for purchase, a coffee bar, and complimentary beverages (coffee, tea selection, and water). The outdoor area has several large sitting areas, grills, and outdoor games. This tent is where the “front desk” is located, so if you need more fans, another battery pack, fresh towels, or anything else, this is where you come (or you can text their concierge number and they’ll bring it to your tent). It was really fun to hang out here and meet some of the other glampers! Everyone was very friendly, but one of the employees really went above and beyond for us–when we were selecting our s’mores kit, the sign said that it was a mystery grab of candy, so you might get Reese’s, Hershey’s, or Cookies and Cream pieces, and I told my husband that I’d have to keep coming back if I didn’t get a Reese’s (not that I minded extra s’mores LOL). Well, my first round was Cookies and Cream (still a delicious option), but before I could go back for more, the employee who checked us in earlier that day, Ryan, came out to our spot by the fire and brought me a Reese’s kit! He said he heard my comment and wanted to make sure I got the candy I preferred. I thought that was so sweet! All of the staff members were friendly and made great recommendations for local dining and exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, but I’ll always remember how thoughtful Ryan was! As you can tell, glamping was a great experience! While it’s not something I would do for more than a few nights (again: NOT camping people LOL), I definitely plan to incorporate it into future trips to other National Parks.
